KIGEZI TEENS MAGAZINE HELD ITS FIRST INTER-SCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITIONS IN KABALE DISTRICT

INTER-SCHOOL DEBATES(ATUKUNDA MARTHA,SOLBERG COLLEGE-BEST DEBATOR)

Kigezi Teens Magazine, an initiative aimed at empowering the youth and transforming lives of the young generation held their first debate competitions on 6th July 2024. Debate competitions is one way of empowering our young people here in Kigezi, building oral presentation skills, developing confidence in public speaking and training debaters to listen, assess and form arguments

The debate Competition which was held at Kabale Secondary school was presided over by Dr. Protazio Begumiisa, the NRM Chairman for Ndorwa East and Mr. Sam Arineitwe, LC3 Chairman Central Division. It commenced at 8:00 am-5pm, in attendance were 6 schools and these included Kabale Brainstorm High School, Solberg College Kabale, Wordsworth High School, Kabale Secondary School and St Paul’s Secondary Bukinda. Each school was represented by two teams and their patron making a total of 55 students and 10 patrons in attendance.

Mr. Eddy Nahwera, the founder Kigezi Teens Magazine appreciated all students that came for the debates competition, their patrons, service providers and all sponsors that made it successful. He further encouraged schools to always participate whenever chance arises.
INTER-SCHOOL DEBATES(ATUKUNDA MARTHA,SOLBERG COLLEGE-BEST DEBATOR) Furthermore, Eddy Nahwera called for support from district leaders and government officials. Their team organizes such activities every year inclusive of the annual event, magazine publications, teens awards and many others. Kabale Brainstorm High School emerged the winner of the tournament after defeating St Paul’s Secondary school on finals.
The best debater of the tournament was ATUKUNDA MARTHA from Solberg College Kabale.

We can’t wait to receive to host you again Meaningfully, engaging young people is the first step to the realization of our rights and the need to change our society.” Ismail Harerimana concluded
